This is a scene from the river Chess, near Chenies and Chorleywood in Hertfordshire, and it was painted ‘en plein air’ on the river bank. The aim was to capture the contra jour sunlight effect of a Spring morning. The painting is initialed on the front and signed on the reverse. Also included is a signed letter of authenticity.
